Diamonds Guide

Purchasing diamond jewelry is a significant and unique experience for everyone and is usually a one-time experience that gives eternal satisfaction just like that symbolized by a diamond in nature.

So what is important to know before purchasing a diamond?

Each diamond has 4 main and important parameters according to which its quality and value are measured. In this article you will study the four parameters in order of their importance in assessing the value of a diamond.

Carat Weight:

1 carat = 1/5 g (0.20 g).
1 carat = 100 points.
Half a carat = 50 points.
Quarter carat = 25 points and so on.

The average diameter of a 1 carat stone is 6.5-6.4 mm.
The average height for a 1-carat stone is 3.87 millimeters.

From this we can learn that the greater the weight of a diamond, the higher its value.

Clarity:

In very high percentages of natural diamonds there are natural "clean" defects that are an inseparable part of stone.
These cleaning defects are created naturally as part of the diamond formation process in nature and are greatly influenced by the natural environment in which it is formed (region, soil type, etc.).
There are many different types of cleaning defects, these defects are divided into three main categories:
1. Internal cleaning defects – located in the core of the stone.
2. External cleaning defects – located on the surface of the stone on the polished surfaces.
3. Combined cleaning defects – combine defects of both internal and external nature.

*It is important to understand that the size, type and location of the defect greatly affect the quality and value of the stone.

The quality of cleanliness of polished diamonds is assessed according to a fixed and uniform scale worldwide.

The quality of a diamond's cleanliness is of great importance but not decisive in the context of its external appearance, it is important to note that up to the SI-2 grade of cleanliness, the cleaning defects cannot be seen without the ability to magnify X10 (loop / microscope).
The most traded grades of cleanliness in the diamond jewelry market: VS1 – si2.

Color:

The color tones present in diamonds are also natural and are created as part of the natural process of diamond formation in nature.
For those who are not familiar or experienced in this field, all diamonds will look white and sparkling with their eyes, but it is important to recognize that most diamonds have natural shades of yellow and gray and are also defined in a fixed color gamut in the trading market.
The more transparent/white a diamond is, the more expensive it is and the higher its value. (D,E,F) These colors are also called "Top collection" It is important to note that most of the shades available in standard diamond jewelry are G-H shades.
Those diamonds ranked between N-Z grades will be called Cape.

Cut:

The CUT grade of the diamond consists of two main parameters: proportions and polishing symmetry.

The quality of the diamond's polishing is critical and greatly affects the light reflections of the stone in the jewelry outwardly.

Perfect reflections due to high polishing quality will give a diamond its white shine (brilliancy), rainbow reflections (fire), palette shine (luster) and scintillation (scintillation).

It is important to understand that even if the stone is rated at the highest level of cleanliness and color rating, it does not necessarily mean that the diamond will be the most sparkling and impressive.

Cutting grades: Excellent, very good, good, fair, poor
